The Library is here

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

A new page has been added which links to the English Islamic e-books library I announced earlier.  You can visit The Library by clicking here or the menu button at the top of this page.

Update:  As of 16/09/2011 I have closed it down.

Temporary Downtime

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Over the next few days or so, links to downloadable files including the Texts page will be down temporarily.  This is to clean up my iDisk, allowing for a new pdf library of ‘authentic’ Islamic books that have been collected from various sources, in shâ’ Allâh.

UPDATE [17-09-10]: The files on the ‘Islamic Texts’ page are down and should be rectified by tomorrow.

UPDATE [20-09-10]: The transition is complete and The Library is now ready.

New Theme, More “Reviews”

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

As-salâmu `alaykum

I decided to change the theme to this site as the old one seemed too plain with only blacks whites and greys (and blue hyperlinks).  The place now looks more like a blog, with the narrow content window and the home page symbol has been replaced with the word “blog”.  Yet despite this, I think maybe the other theme provided a more site-like feel, which is probably more suitable.

Moving on, I have some more dictionary “reviews” to be posted I hope by early June.  The delay is due exams of mine which begin this week, so please make du`â for me as I seriously need them.  As you can imagine I won’t be active until they’re over, but to compensate for my absence, I have some scheduled posts coming soon…

New Page Added

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

As-salâmu `alaykum

I’ve just added an ‘About’ page to the blog, which simply serves as an introduction to this place (a bit late I know).  For those who are unsure on what exactly this blog is [meant to be] about (it’s not just meant to be another islamic blog), you shall find answers there, in shâ’ Allâh.

The Lapse

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

As-salâmu `alaykum,

I’ve been extremely busy with coursework, my dissertation, exam preparation as well as Islamic studies, hence the period of inactivity.  I have a few new posts to come before the end of this month (in shâ’ Allâh), regarding studies in Mauritania, Pakistan and other stuff too I hope.

New Section Added – Texts

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Alhamdulillâh, I’ve added a new page called ‘Texts’ (see above). The purpose of the page is to provide links/downloads for well-known Islamic texts or mutûn. This is just the beginning, I have many more to add, but I want to keep things consistent and publish the documents to pdf first. You see, I run on a Mac and therefore think about other Mac users. To be quite frank, Arabic support on them is slacking with non-standard packages such as Apple’s iWorks and Microsoft Word, the latter of which does not even support Arabic yet, which I find pathetic.

So many Arabic Word documents, like those books found at http://www.saaid.net, appear disaligned on Apple software, and as complete Jibberish on Microsoft’s.  In addition to this, Islamic texts are typically memorised, so a pdf means you can read it on a number of devices as well as any computer.  Who knows?  Someone may do most their memorising through an iphone, PDA or e-book reader.  So pdf is in shâ’ Allâh, a viable solution.

Another Blog!?

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

As-salâmu `alaykum

Welcome to my new blog!  This is now my third blog attempt.  It wasn’t long before I realised that blogspot and Apple’s iWeb just didn’t have what I wanted.  While they offered simplicity and ease, control and power was slacking.  The content hasn’t changed and I will shortly repost the old material, in shâ’ Allâh.  In the mean time, please bear with me.
